A consumer products company was experiencing increasing defects, as standard photoelectric sensors had difficulty detecting missing transparent caps and inserts in their spray bottles.
Manual inspection was time consuming, forcing quality engineers to specify inspection of only a few samples per lot.
A CheckerĀ® vision sensor made the difference
Checker's part finding sensor identifies a feature on the spray bottle used to locate the points where the cap or insert should exist, even when the position of the bottle varies.
Checker then uses its brightness sensor to inspect for the insert's presence based on the reflection of the sensor's light.
Finally the contrast sensor detects the transparent cap's presence based on the change in contrast between an existing cap and a missing one.
Line throughput increased and defects reduced
By identifying missing caps or inserts before final packaging, quality control was improved and cost reduced with automated, reliable 100% inspection.
