Solar cell production: find defects before it's too late

The company intends to deploy Cognex vision systems in an effort to increase throughput from 600 to 1,100 solar modules a day.

Since the start of production in Germany, Würth Solar has collaborated with AIT Göhner, a member of the Cognex specialist partner integrator network, to implement data tracking using In-Sight ID readers in order to drive down costs and optimize quality.

Data Matrix codes, applied to glass plates are used to identify each plate and ensure that it has been processed correctly. Tracking plates with In-Sight ID readers allows the company to detect defects and determine if the module will function properly.
