Issue: an electronics manufacturer needed to read 2D labels and laser etched codes on printed circuit boards. The codes are scanned automatically as the board moves down the production line and the data is automatically transferred directly into their MRP system.

The most critical requirement for this process is a high read rate. The codes are read 4-8 times during production and if a code cannot be read then the automated line will stop until an operator removes the product from the line. Such downtime is costly.
