For the Electronics Industry

Allows 2D Data Matrix Reliable Reading and Improves Overall Read Rates

Beyonics in Malaysia, needed to encode lot code, vendor ID, product no., serial no., etc onto a smaller label size -- the plan was to migrate to a 2-Dimensional Data Matrix ID code. And it was a direct replacement of their current fixed-mount readers without altering any existing software programming or hardware wiring configurations.

As a result, the process engineers spent little time on this migration and was able to concentrate in keeping production lines up and running.

Laser Marking and Image-based Industrial ID Reader Save Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars

An electronics manufacturer produces thousands of different part numbers of electronic products intermixed on the same assembly line. The difficulty in identifying parts, combined with the fast pace of the line, resulted in a large amount of rework, scrap and losses when incorrect parts were added to, and/or the wrong operations were performed, on assemblies.

Claire Lasers provided a solution by developing an application of laser marking system that added a motorised platform to move the ID reader into position based on the location of the assembly.

“I picked the Cognex DataMan 100 ID reader … because … its software consistently delivers reliable readings even when the appearance of the code has been degraded,
” Gendron said.

For the Automotive Industry
Each automotive component produced at Borg Warner in Germany is 100% traceable with data matrix codes marked on each piece.

Batch numbers, production dates and testing status are also available through this code.

For the Food Industry

Het Kaasmerk b.v. in the Netherlands uses the DataMan® to read the codes marked on individual blocks of cheese. The cheese is marked with a 2D code early in the production process and these codes need to remain readable right until the end.

The only ID reader capable of meeting the challenge of the increasingly degraded codes in the tough industrial environment was the DataMan 7500.

For the Medical Device Industry
ID readers save assembly time and improve tracking of surgical instruments.

quotesOur staff commented that it was faster and easier to get a good scan with this ID reader. We now have 250 DataMan 7500 scanners out in the field. The average hospital has five of these scanners and the largest has 30.
