Equipment Manufacturer Provides Built-in Ease of Use

Proteck, located in Chennai, India, provides reliable and flexible equipment for the printing industry. Printing plates require extremely precise alignment at various stages of the printing process.
In Proteck's newest system, accurate alignment is achieved as two Cognex In-Sight® Micro cameras detect special marks on the sides of the printing plate and sends data to the PLC that controls the press. Proteck's algorithm then uses this data to determine the amount of translation and rotation that the plate requires to achieve the correct position.
Ease of use is built-in for their customers with the addition of the VisionView® operator display panel
(as seen in the photo). Once the system is running, operators can monitor and adjust the vision system directly from the panel.

The VisionView panel provides a compact and convenient way to view information, such as plate positions, as well as a view into the operating status of the machine. Using the touch screen, it is possible for operators to make minor adjustment offsets, which could change when the presses undergo routine maintenance, without requiring the help of the engineers.

Best Practice Vision Tip: PC or no PC?

- Display images with overlay graphics from up to nine Cognex vision systems,
- Offer image adjustment with focus and image zoom and pan functionality,
- Take the system online/offline, modify tolerances, retrain patterns, modify regions and change jobs,
- Automatically save failed images to a storage device or network location, and
- Display pass/fail status, results and statistics to quickly spot shifts in trends.
With the latest release, VisionView 1.2 is available in two platforms:
- A networked industrial-grade panel with plug-and-go setup and a seven-inch touch-screen.
- A PC-based software version that allows the plant the flexibility to use existing PCs
and larger monitors.
