Problem: Detecting Pills Present in a Bottle
A pharmaceutical company needed to detect whether a bottle was full or empty. Traditional photoelectric sensors gave inconsistent results due to changes in the bottle position.
Solution: Part Fixturing Not Required
A Cognex® Checker® vision sensor was installed. Checker’s part finding sensor identified a reference feature and an array of contrast sensors inspect the inside of the bottle for the presence of pills. Use of the part finding sensor eliminates the need for part fixturing.

Blister Pack Inspection with One Sensor
A single Checker vision sensor proved to be the simplist and more cost-effective choice in verifying the presence of twelve pills in a blister pack. This problem was previously solved with 12 traditional sensors and with less than 100% accuracy!
Checker detects the blister pack with a part finding sensor and then positions a brightness sensor on each pocket to determine if a piece is present or not.

The pill appears "bright" when present, and "dark" when missing.
