Quality control at 400 parts per minute? Tasked with providing a high performance vision solution, Multipix Imaging Ltd, a member of the Cognex specialist partner network supplied the bespoke vision system to Pace Automation which was then integrated in-house at Lisi Automotive, a tier-1 supplier based in France.

This particular system is required to sort numerous speciality automotive screws. The screws can vary in length from 40mm to 60mm, placing high demands on the vision system. Using the In-Sight 5100, two cameras are placed strategically within the sorting machine to inspect a number of different areas.

“The In-Sight 5100 cameras from Cognex have given us the read accuracy demanded whilst maintaining an outstanding throughput rate. Using Cognex products has also demonstrated that not only has the unit price of the cameras been more cost-effective than alternative systems, but they have a
llowed us greater flexibility when tailoring our machines to each individual customer.”

Tony Crossland, General Manager at Pace Automation

Nissan uses In-Sight to save time and money assembling the Micra

Guide, position and locate with in-Sight: Nissan is using Cognex vision systems to automate the assembly and positioning of side glass in the Micra. This is done thanks to In-Sight cameras who guide a 6-axis robot communicating key location information to the robot. Nissan is satisfied with the robustness and accuracy of the vision solution as well as the level of support from the Cognex partner system integrator (PSI) - Capley Marker.

This vision system provides accurate and reliable readings, essential for our production lines. The system will better support new product introduction as it is more flexible than before. Based on this improved flexibility it is predicted that there will be a significant reduction in changeover time during future new product introduction.”

Defect-free parts in 360 degrees

The solution in a seminar :
Parts destined for the marketplace need to be 100% defect free. After having tested various vision systems, Italian manufacturer of seals for engine pumps, Meccanotecnica Umbra found that the competition proved unworthy of the challenge. Luckily their technical experts participated in a Cognex vision seminar and then asked Cognex to do a feasibility study for their quality inspection project...

...The solution was developed by TEC, a partner system integrator (PSI) of Cognex for central Italy. The PSI network is specially selected and trained by Cognex to deliver turnkey solutions for vision and identification applications. They proposed In-Sight 5400 from Cognex as well as 2 Cognex In-Sight 5401 readers. Now 3 inspection stations ensure that each rotating piece is fully captured and inspected for multiple references in just seconds.
