Manufacturers now rely on DPM (Direct Part Mark)
 |
|
 |
Indian manufacturers now rely on DPM to track & trace of high-value parts to prevent theft or counterfeiting, identify parts for maintenance and returns,
and to resolve warranty issues and liability claims.
What is Direct Part Marketing (DPM)?
Direct Part Marking (DPM) is a process to permanently mark parts with a barcode. This is done to allow the tracking
of parts through the full life cycle.
DPM is often used by automotive, aerospace, and electronic manufacturers to facilitate a reliable identification of their parts. This can assist in data logging for safety, warranty issues
and satisfy regulatory requirements.

Types of DPM Code
 |
|
 |
There are 2 Types of DPM-
Data Matrix Code- A Data Matrix code is a two-dimensional matrix barcode consisting
of black and white "cells" or modules arranged in either a square or rectangular pattern. The information to be encoded can be text or raw data. Data Matrix codes are part of a new traceability drive in many industries in the particularly aerospace
& automotive where quality control is tight and a black market exists for counterfeit or non-serviceable parts.
QR Code- A QR code (Quick Response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) first designed
for the automotive industry. More recently, the system has become popular outside of the industry due to its fast readability and comparatively large storage capacity. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background.
The information encoded can be made up of any kind of data (e.g., binary, alphanumeric, or Kanji symbols)

Cognex® DataMan® 8000 readers set the new performance standard when it comes to industrial code reading. These newly designed readers are build
specifically for tracing code, which have been the benchmark for industrial direct part mark (DPM) code reading performance since their release.
The DataMan 8000 Series is the first industrial handheld reader to offer integrated liquid lens technology. The adjustable focus of the liquid lens gives the maximum depth of field flexibility for an image-based handheld reader.
Features of DM8000-
1. Unmatched Code Reading Performance.
2. Superior Reading Versatility.
3. Modular Communications.
4. Rugged ergonomic design

10 Reasons to Choose Image-based ID Readers
 |
Today’s advanced image-based barcode readers are proven to outperform lasers on the factory floor, offering more features and an attractive alternative to industrial laser scanners.
This white paper outlines ten advantages to
consider before making your next laser scanner purchase.

 |
|
Regardless of the barcode symbology, size, quality, printing method, or surface the codes are marked on,
we can read it! Because of the higher read rates they achieve, image-based readers are rapidly replacing
laser scanners in a wide range of manufacturing and logistics applications.
